With video players, using the GPU to do some of the player’s software based processing, decoding e.g., can result in visibly worse video playback, lousy or no deinterlacing, crashes and maxed out GPU’s with little CPU contribution. Harware acceleration isn’t the panacea it seems, it really just helps take some load off the CPU. Our similar desktop has Intel Graphics disabled, so everything runs on the Nvidia card. This is on an 4k Alienware laptop with optimus. I went back to Intel Graphics, all is fine. It works but browser scrolling became glitchy and momentary white screens showed up sporadically. You can add FF to the Nv Control Panel but when FF’s running, there’s no Nvidia activity in Task Manager. Laptop Nvidia cards used to be able to be set to run FF but not now apparently. Then I tried to manually download and install the AMD driver from my product support page on HP website, installed ok but without the AMD Adrenalin program. Tried the fix from this link on AMD website. But I can't install AMD adrenalin, Windows 10 installed an AMD driver and when I try to download and install the driver from AMD home page it gives me an error : AMD Software Failed to Launch Because Windows Update Has Replaced the AMD Graphics Driver. RAM usage now at 20% and fan not even turning on when at idle.
So I downloaded Microsoft media creation tool and performed a fresh installation of Windows 10 Home. I chose the reset option, even so Windows 11 was sluggish, eating up 48% of available ram just siting idle, and the fan was always on at max speed also when idle. Came with Windows 11 installed, after boot up asked me if I want to keep current files and perform a reset. Was bought from local dealer as repackaged product. I have bought this laptop yesterday (HP Pavilion Aero 13, 16gb RAM, Ryzen 7 5800U, 1 TB SDD configuration).
